Steve Ham
A legendary pilot who found his home in Piedrahita, Spain, one of the best paragliding locations in the world. He held the UK open distance for nearly 10 years with his flight of 175km from the Long Mynd during the UK Paragliding Nationals in 1995. Steve's personal competition career spans nearly 20 years, with numerous selections in the British team. The first in 1990, and latest in 2007 for the World Paragliding Championships Australia.
He was also the British Team Leader in the Spanish World Championships in 2001 and in 1997 (Team Silver and individual Gold by John Pendry). Steve flies a Peak. |

John Ellison
2010 sees John starting his second season with Niviuk. 2009 started working as an Air Marshall at the World Championships in Mexico. Back to the UK John was leading the UK XC League before the lure of the continent saw him packing his bags for the heat of Spain. 3rd place in the British Championships after the 2nd round in Spain was soon followed up with competing in the Bleriot Cup in France. An excellent French team with local knowledge put a stop to the British Team win there. Then on on the final British Championship round in France where he secured 6th place overall in the 2009 Championship in his first year on a Competition glider - the Icepeak XP!
Johns results have earnt him a qualification place in the Paragliding World Cup 2010. John is looking for a sponsor - it's time to upgrade the Icepeak XP for the Icepeak 3!!

Jon Chambers
Jon started flying in 1992 and just 3yrs later at the age of 19yrs he was already making his mark in competition flying. Just 5yrs after his first flight, in 1997 he was selected for the British training camp, aimed at young up and coming pilots.
Jon finished first in the Serial class and 3rd Brit overall in the 2007 British Open. He also found himself in the Bleriot team and again they were victorious. In 2008, he won the Serial class in the British Championships. Jon flies a Peak. |

John McNamee
A serious contender on the competition scene. In 2005 he was selected to represent Ireland for the Red Bull Team in the Capetown Man Event, finishing in 5th place out of the field of 50 contenders. In 2006 he took 3rd place in the British Nationals for the DHV 2 class and in 2007 he moved up to the serial class flying in both the Nordic Open and British Nationals.
He is now the top ranking and number 1 pilot for Northern Ireland and Ireland, and is highly placed in the UK overall. John's chosen wing is a Peak. |

Alex Colbeck
Although a young pilot and a relative newcomer to competitive flying, Alex did well participating in the XC League, BCC and BP Cup in preparation for the British Championships. During his 2 years flying in the Champs, he made goal during most of the tasks, getting faster every time. This year he is competing again, flying against some of the UK's, and indeed the world's best pilots.
Other than making goal during every task, his other aims in 2010 are to win the "Best placed pilot under 25" category again and also be the best placed EN C pilot in the XC League. Now with three flights over 100km to his name, many pilots already recognise him as a rapidly growing natural talent and we think he is set to develop into a world-class pilot. Watch this space and remember his name. In 2010 he will be flying an Artik 2. |

Barney Woodhead
A very talented pilot who hasn't been flying very long, Barney already has a 140km flight to his name, flying from the Peak District to Scarborough. He takes part in the BP Cup and usually ranks very well in the UK XC League.
With a degree in Physics, Barney always looks closely at the weather and has a gift for choosing the right hill to be on in the Pennines, Dales or Peak District. You'll see him out on most flyable days. Barney flies a Peak. |

Fiona Macaskill
Fiona has been a part of the Paragliding World Cup scene for over 10 years. During this time she has established herself, in our opinion as one of the best female pilots in the UK. On several occasions she has finished the season as the highest placed female in both the British Championships and National XC league. Fiona has represented and flown in the British Team no less than 6 times.
She holds 2 British records for height and distance to declared goal plus 4 world records (25km speed triangle). Having beaten two of her own previous records, Fiona is still the current holder of two the British records and one world record. For 2009 Fiona has decided to represent the girls for Team Niviuk UK and her chosen glider is the Artik 2. She said :"2009 was a fabulous year for me on the Artik 2, it's an impressive wing. I'm looking forward to another year on it and am starting off by going to Nepal for a month in March. I feel very comfortable on the Artik 2 it's a wing I really trust, sensitive but solid, a great combination!"
